New worldwide contracts for Aberdeen-based quality assurance business [ 07-07-2007]
Aberdeen-based supply chain consultancy Nexus has announced the award of significant contract extensions from oil giants Shell and BP to the total value of £3million as the business expands its operations by opening offices in Norway and Kazakhstan.
Nexus provides quality assurance services for these operators in the UK, Europe and Gulf of Mexico utilising its internet-based software system, the Equipment State of Requirements (SoR) process consistently communicates requirements for equipment between operators and suppliers in order to ensure fitness-for-purpose. Equipment failures can potentially cost millions; the Equipment SoR system enables users to define technical requirements for drilling and completions equipment online and interact fully with suppliers throughout the design and manufacture of process assuring equipment.
Following the successful completion of the initial phase of a contract with Shell U.K. Limited for the validation of complex technical histories of exploration and production wells, a contract extension has now been awarded covering all wells on the UK Continental Shelf. In addition, at the end of last year, BP purchased a global licence to use the Equipment SoR system.
To further strengthen Nexus’ growing position in Norway, the company opened a permanent office in Stavanger last year, to service clients based in Norway and Denmark. The Equipment SoR system has been providing quality assurance services to BP in Norway since 1998. A base in Kazakhstan has also been established this month to provide validation and quality assurance services to clients in the region.
Trevor Butler, co-founder and managing director of Nexus commented: “These new contract awards provide a clear demonstration of our growing reputation in the energy market. The BP contract is important as a global agreement of this kind is a testimony of the excellent results achieved by Nexus and the SoR system. We have a long and excellent relationship with BP and by utilising a process developed with Nexus for an important aspect of its supply chain across its worldwide operation, BP has demonstrated confidence in both the web-based software and our experienced personnel”.
The Nexus SoR process is used within the drilling, completions and well services markets across the world, and with our new bases in Norway and Kazakhstan we are in an even stronger position to continue our geographic expansion.”
