STATOIL

Statoil is one of the world's largest net sellers of crude oil, and a substantial supplier of natural gas to Europe. Kvitebjørn is the largest HP/HP development to date in the Norwegian sector.

Kvitebjorn (Fixed Platform Installation, HPHT, 12 Well Programme)

The major area of risk for Statoil on the Kvitebjorn project was the High Pressure/High Temperature (HPHT) nature of the reservoir and the risks this imposed on the Drilling and Completions programme.

Nexus was engaged on the basis of our track record in HPHT risk management with BP and other UK Operators. The scope of support to Statoil extended to the full outsourcing of QA/Inspection and Supply Chain Risk Mitigation to Nexus together with the development of Time/Resource based schedules for the 12 Well programme covering all activities from design review through manufacture, testing and deployment to the Well.

The Nexus SoR (Statement of Requirements) system was used to manage the technical specification, QA and testing regimes for all critical equipment on the Kvitebjorn development.
Nexus were responsible for all aspects of technical integrity and ‘fitness for intended use’ of drilling and completion equipment used on Kvitebjorn, developing quality plans, assurance schemes and implementing a worldwide audit programme on behalf of Statoil.

Despite being the first large scale HPHT project undertaken by Statoil, Kviebjorn set a benchmark within the Norwegian sector of the North Sea for the lowest Non Productive Time / Cost ration of any major Well development. Nexus is currently working on phase 2.
