BP - Supply Chain Risk Mitigation Training

In the mid to late ‘90’s, BP encountered very high ratios of Non Productive Time and Equipment Failure Incidents which could be traced back to root cause in the Supply Chain of some of the world’s largest Well Construction programmes.

Nexus was engaged to assist in identifying key future risks from these ratios and incidents, tracking the risks to root cause and putting in place sustainable corrective actions.

The effectiveness of this support to BP led to the award of a ‘Federal’ contract to Nexus to mitigate Supply Chain Risk. We are currently actively supporting BP projects in the UK, GoM and the Caspian.

During the course of working in the BP Supply Chain, a number of tools and methodologies were developed to address specific categories of risks.
This learning in effective Risk Management was developed into a training resource in the form of a two-day ‘Supply Chain Assurance Skills Workshop’ which has now been attended by over 500 Engineers and procurement staff from BP and their main suppliers.

As part of this programme the Nexus SoR (Statement of Requirements) process for the specification and management of requirements for Drilling and Completion equipment was developed as a web based system and subsequently adopted by BP worldwide
